What personal data do we collect from our customers?

We primarily collect our customers’ personal data in order to carry out the services described in our customer agreement. The information collected can be:

  • first and last name
  • title
  • email address
  • telephone number
  • personal identity code if the company does not have a business ID
For what purposes do we process our customers’ personal data?

We collect personal data in order to, above all, offer the service, training or consultation ordered by the customer according to agreement.

We can process your data for a marketing study or customer survey, or be in contact with you for the purpose of marketing or selling other services offered by GS1 Finland. The processing of personal data is based on our legitimate interest in offering you information as part of the service and in marketing our other services to you.

You have the right to object to your personal data being used for direct marketing. You can exercise your rights by sending us a request at asiakaspalvelu@gs1.fi.

From what sources do we collect personal data?

GS1 Finland’s customer provides GS1 Finland with the data of the contact person of their company.

Contact forms that we have received through GS1 Finland’s public website (for instance from downloading a guide) and contact forms from events are also recorded in the customer and marketing register.

Personal data can also be received from other sources within the scope allowed by applicable laws, for instance from the Finnish Trade Register.

To whom can we hand over your personal data? We do not share personal data from our customer and marketing system with third parties.
Will we hand over your personal data outside the EU area? We do not move your personal data from our customer and marketing system outside the European Economic Area or to international organisations.
For how long will we process your personal data? We preserve your personal data for as long as it is necessary to carry out the purposes defined in this filing system.
How can you exercise your rights related to your personal data?

As GS1 Finland’s customer or customer’s contact person, you have different kinds of possibilities to affect how your personal data is processed. We normally carry out your request within one month. You can exercise your rights by sending us a request at asiakaspalvelu@gs1.fi.

You have the right to check your personal data. In practice, we ensure this right by sending you a report of the personal data that has been collected about you in the filing system.

You can request for your personal data to be rectified, updated or deleted. Personal data that are necessary for fulfilling the purposes defined in this privacy statement cannot be deleted.

You have the right to object to or limit the use of your personal data to the extent required by applicable law.

When we process your personal data that are subject to your consent, you have the right to withdraw that consent at any time. After that, we will no longer process the personal data unless there is another legal basis for processing.

If a possible disagreement concerning the processing of your personal data cannot be solved amicably between you and GS1 Finland, you have the right to bring the matter to the data protection supervisor to be resolved.

Principles for protecting the filing system Personal data will be stored as confidential. Only those employed by GS1 Finland or other specified persons who require the data in their duties have user rights to the customer and marketing register. They have user IDs and passwords for this purpose. The data is protected technically by a firewall.

What personal data do we collect from our customers? We collect the personal data (first and last name, email address) from the Synkka service customers in order to be able to deliver the product information transfer service.
For what purposes do we process our customers’ personal data?

We mainly collect personal data for creating and maintaining system user rights.

We may also contact you to tell you about new features in our service or to market or sell other services, for instance. We may also process your personal data for the purposes of marketing surveys and customer inquiries. The processing of personal data is based on our legitimate interest in offering you information as part of the service and in marketing our other services to you.

We preserve your personal data for as long as it is necessary to carry out the purposes defined in this filing system.

We will preserve your personal data for the duration of the customer relationship.

We will delete the personal data at the end of the customer relationship or when we have received notice that the person in question has stopped using the service (for example, if the person is no longer employed at a customer of GS1 Finland or has changed jobs).
