Developing the GS1 standards and services

GS1's standards and services are constantly being developed. The global development of GS1 standards takes place in a forum made up of experts from different industries and in related working groups. In Finland, we facilitate cooperation groups consisting of several companies, where our customers can develop the practices of their industry together.

As an open and impartial operator, we offer our client companies a neutral platform to network and collaboratively develop the operating models of their industries and GS1's global standards.

Working groups in Finland

In Finland, we facilitate collaboration groups, where our customers can jointly develop the practices of their industry, influence the development of our services, and network and learn from others. The working groups generally review the development needs of our services and look for ways to further improve and ensure the correctness and uniformity of product information. In addition, e.g. the effects of current themes on GS1's services and the contents of product information are investigated.

Depending on the goals and subject area, the groups are either regularly meeting with a fixed membership or project-based groups gathered around a certain topic.

International standard development

Representatives from more than 60 countries participate in the development of GS1 standards, and the goal is to find standard-based solutions to supply chain challenges affecting a wide range of industries. Among the industries included are retail trade, fresh food, health care, real estate and construction, as well as transport and logistics. GS1 Finland is actively involved in working groups to take Finland's views into global standard development and bring results and solutions for the benefit of our customers. Finnish companies are also welcome to international working groups.
